Family geocachingSafety Tips

Here are a few common sense safety tips to help you have a safe and successful Northwoods geocaching adventure:

  1. Tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back.
  2. Geocache with a buddy. If for some reason you run into any trouble, take a tumble or just get lost, you’ve got someone who can help. Plus, working together with family and friends is what makes geocaching so much fun!
  3. Bring along water and some basic emergency equipment, like a cell phone, pocket knife, rain poncho and a lighter or matches.
  4. Be aware of what’s around you. For example, don’t concentrate so hard on your GPS that you walk into a tree or into a stream.
  5. Keep an eye on the weather and dress appropriately.
  6. Remember to take it easy and have fun!
